Delightful circular stone entrance gateposts to the first paddock nearest Home Farm. The deep rebates on the inside face, clearly built to carry substantial gates, presumably to deter horse thiefs from removing the bloodstock. Given the enthusiasm of Sir Thomas Gascoigne and his descendents for horse racing and the success they enjoyed, it would be suprising if the paddocks were less well built.
