Witley Court circa 1880's
Witley Court, Worcestershire
Witley Court symbolizes how the Country house declined during the 20th Century. The former vast Italianate mansion, largely converted in the nineteenth century from an earlier Jacobean house, was never reinstated after the fire of September 1937.
About the site
Originally I was going to embark on a comprehensive history of Witley Court, however events have conspired to make this impossible, so rather than drop the web site It is now integrated into the Parlington web site, which was the original inspiration for my interest in Country Houses and Castles around the United Kingdom.
